The Butterfly Effect emerged from the Brisbane underground hard rock scene in 2001 with their debut self-titled EP which instantly gained recognition on national youth radio network, Triple J. Self-financed, produced by ARIA nominated engineer Dave Leonard and released through his local independent label Modern Music the EP soon became highly in demand across Australia. In January 2002 the band was invited to perform at the local Big Day Out and to capitalise on the momentum a national tour was booked to supply the growing demand for the band. As a result several tours followed including supports with some of Australia's leading rock acts which in turn, attracted the attention of the larger record companies and publishers within Australia. In May 2002 The Butterfly Effect and Modern Music entered into a Licensing deal with Roadshow Music, a publishing agreement with Rough Cut music and began the task of developing the act to the level it has reached today. With a successful EP, top 50 album and a tour schedule that only the toughest bands can handle The Butterfly Effect is on its way to becoming one of the great success stories of hard rock bands to come out of Australia.
